DOMAINE DE LA GACHèRE

Independant winemakers : Wines from the Loire valley

Description

Winery on the border between Deux Sèvres and Maine et Loire: reds, whites, rosés and sparkling wines

The winery was started by their great-uncle Urbain. In 1950 Claude, their father, helped by his wife Bernadette, took over running the business. Then in 1999 the twins Alain and Gilles took the reins from their parents and have been in charge ever since.

The Gachère winery extends over 32 hectares of sandy-clay soil in the Haut Layon region on the borders of Deux Sèvres and Maine et Loire. It is in the Loire valley 50Km south of Angers and 45Km from Saumur.

The twins produce Anjou red, Loire rosé, Grolleau Gris, Chardonnay, Sauvignon and sparkling Loire rosé and sparkling white.

They have a stall on Saturdays at Niort market, and the first Thursday of each month at the Saveurs de Gâtine market at Pompaire. They can deliver to Parthenay and the surrounding area.
